Himachal Pradesh Technical University is being
established at Hamirpur and made functional from the
year 2010.

Bihari Vajpayee, Govt. Institute of Engineering &
Technology at Pragatinagar, Distt. Shimla has been
established in collaboration with SJVNL. The institute
will provide the technical education at B.Tech. Diploma,
and ITI level. The institute has been made functional
from the current academic session i.e 2011-12 with
Polytechnic and ITI. The counseling process fro the
admission to Diploma and ITI has been started. The
B.Tech. Courses will be started from the next academic

An
Engineering college on aspects related to Hydro Power is
to be established at Bandla in District Bilaspur in
collaboration with NHPC and NTPC. The land measuring
62.00 Bighas has been transferred in the name of
technical education department.

Engineering College, 2 B-Pharmacy Colleges and 18
Polytechnic Institutes have been established in private
sector during previous three years.

Two new B.Tech Courses in Electronics & Communication
Engineering and Civil Engineering have been started in
JN Govt. Engineering College Sundernagar from the
session 2010-11.

new Polytechnic will be opened in a phased manner within
two years in the left out districts of Sirmour, Bilaspur,
Kullu, Kinnaur and Lahul & Spiti and notifications in
this regard have been issued by the Govt. The land in
district Sirmour has been transferred and an amount of
rs. 2.00 Crore has been deposited with the BSNL for
construction of polytechnic campus.

Jawahar Lal Nehru, Govt. Engineering College Sundernagar
has been allowed to participate in Technical Education
Quality Improvement Programme, Phase-II for which Rs.
10.00 Crore will be released by the GOI after the
approval of Institutional Eligibility Proposal.

new ITIs at Tikkar in district Shimla, Sandhole and
Bhadrota in district Mandi and Ghumawin in District
Bilaspur has been notified by the Govt. 63 posts of
various categories have also been created. Two ITIs
namely Tikkar in district Shimla and Bhadrota in
district Mandi have started functioning from the current
academic session. Remaining two ITIs at Ghumarwin and
Sandhole has been made operational from the current
session i.e. 2011-12. In addition new ITI at Khundian in
Distt. Kangra, Dalsh in Distt. Kullu and Pragatinagar in
Distt. Shimla have also been made functional from the
current academic session for which Govt. notifications
have been issued.
Ø Against
the approval of Rs. 37.15 Crore, a sum of Rs. 32.81
Crore has been deposited for construction of buildings
of JN Govt. Engineering College Sundernagar. 03 blocks
A, B and C are almost complete except flooring,
finishing and painting etc. which is in progress.

ITIs have been upgraded as Centres of Excellence. Rs.
36.10 Crore has been sanctioned under Centre of
Excellence(COE), out of which Rs. 25.68 Crore, has been
received from GOI.

Rs.
80.00 Crore has been sanctioned and released to 32
existing ITIs under Public Private Partnership (PPP)
Mode.
Ø
There are 77(56 Govt. ITIs & 21 Pvt. ITIs) Vocational Training Provider
in the State, for which Rs. 4.10 Crore has been
sanctioned and released for reimbursement of training
cost under Skill Devolvement Scheme. Approximately
10,000 trainees have been trained.

Central Grant of Rs. 1.00 Crore per polytechnic has been
sanctioned for the construction of Women Hostel. 1st
installment of Rs. 20.00 Lac per polytechnic has been
released by GOI.
Ø
Central Grant of Rs. 2.00 Crore for up-gradation of
existing 09 Polytechnic has been sanctioned. 1st
installment has been received in each polytechnics.
Ø
All the nine Govt. Polytechnics have been covered under
Community Development through Polytechnic scheme, out of
which 6 Polytechnics namely Sundernagar, Hamirpur,
Kandaghat, Rohroo, Ambota and Kangra have received 1st
installment of Central grant of Rs. 10.25 lakh each and
2nd installment of Rs. 4.30 Lac in respect of
Govt. Polytechnic, Sundernagar, Rs. 9.00 Lac, GP
Hamirpur and Rs. 5.00 Lac for GP Ambota has been
received during the year 2010-11. Matter is being taken
up with GOI for release of funds for remaining
Polytechnics.

For
admission into Technical Education Institutions under
the Control of this Department, counseling of 60,000
students has been done in the previous year. And the
counseling for Diploma is undergone now a days. The
percentage of placement of passed out trainees averages
around 55% of the total strength thereby making the
Technical Education as an important instrument of
transformation by way of increasing the employment
opportunities.

Quality Circles has been established in all the
institutions.

Need
based and job oriented courses are being introduced at
all levels.

Placement Cell has been created in all the institutions. |
